Reception for a former Harvey Girl

OPEN HOUSE Reception at LVCCHP on Saturday, 18 October@ 2 PM. Come meet Nina Strong, a Castaneda Harvey Girl and hear her touching story about life as a Harvey Girl in 1941 in Las Vegas, New Mexico. Rosa Latimer, author of Harvey Houses of Texas will be here to interview Nina for her new book, Harvey Houses of New Mexico.

Two exciting events planned for Friday, August 1, Las Vegas Heritage Week. (1) 6PM: An interesting talk about Billie the Kid at the Plaza Hotel, followed by dinner. 2014 PWAP Historic Home Tour

“Places With A Past” Celebrates 25 years
Twenty-five years ago, the Las Vegas Citizens’ Committee for Historic Preservation organized its first “ Public Historic House Tour”. Six venues were on the tour, including the Vicente Silva House on Moreno, the Benigno Romero House on Hot Springs and the J. E. Hurley House on Sixth Street. As stated in the 1990 brochure: The story of early Las Vegas is told not only in architectural styling and details, but also in the locations of these houses, their date of construction and in the stories of the people who built them.
